Senator Angela Walton Mosley, a trailblazer in Missouri's political landscape, is a dedicated public servant that has served the 13th Senatorial District since January 6, 2021. As the first Black woman elected to represent the 13th Senatorial District in the Missouri Senate, she carries on a family legacy of distinguished public service, with her father, late stepmother, sister and brother-in-law having all contributed to the dynamic leadership in the Missouri House of Representatives.

Senator Angela Walton Mosley's roots in St. Louis run deep, born to Elbert A. Walton, Jr., and Sandra Walton, a retired school teacher. Hailing from the neighborhood of Walnut Park, she is a proud product of St. Louis Public Schools, shaping her education journey through Visual and Performing Arts at Shaw (elementary), Marquette (middle) and Central (high school). Her pursuit of higher education led her to Grambling State University, a beacon of excellence among Historically Black Universities, where she earned a distinguished Bachelor of Science degree.

Beyond her academic achievements, Senator Mosley is a powerful force in both politics and community service. She brings over three decades of legislative expertise. As an influential member of the esteemed Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., she embodies a commitment to excellence. Her vision for community change casts positive ripple effects that shape the landscape and future trajectory in her first term in the Missouri Senate representing the 13th Senatorial District. She is a staunch supporter for labor unions and passionately advocates for safeguarding workers’ rights in fostering a fair and equitable workplace. Unified through purpose, her marriage of 30 years to her husband, State Representative Jay Mosley, etched their names in history in the Missouri Legislature for both love and legislative prowess. In her inaugural legislative session, she soared to new heights alongside her husband as they jointly championed House Bill 402—a groundbreaking achievement that marked them as the first married couple in the Missouri General Assembly to pass such a milestone. This historic bill safeguards the privacy of state lottery winners by prohibiting the publication of their identifying information, a testament to their commitment to both public service and protecting citizens' rights.

Senator Mosley’s impact transcends the halls of legislation, exemplified by orchestrating a triumphant COVID-19 vaccination clinic that benefited over 2,000 North County residents on March 20, 2021. She champions community engagement and commitment to constituents by actively addressing daily challenges faced by the people she serves. Her direct line of communication is exemplified through thoughtfully organized town halls and engagement events in building strong community connections. She exhibits the true essence of leadership by making a tangible difference, turning advocacy into action and ensuring constituent voices are heard by providing immediate active responses.

Senator Mosley's unwavering dedication to her constituents has resulted in securing over $25 million for transformative projects in St. Louis County, such as supporting local organizations in efforts uplifting communities in partnership with the Covering House, Bellefontaine Neighbors and her support for the demolition of the Jamestown Mall. These accomplishments are not just line items on a budget, but represent her commitment to revitalizing the very fabric of her community.
